2025年8月1日より、LAID BUGにて、アメリカ、バーモント州を中心に形成されたアーティストコミュニティ Shelter Cultivation Project （以下SCP）を招聘し、ポップアップエキシビジョンを開催します。
リーダーである Shawn Dumont の声かけのもと集まった7名のアーティストによる作品展と、SCPが営むスーベニアキオスクがポップアップショップとして展開されます。
参加アーティストは、SCPの首謀者でありグラフィックアーティストのShawn Dumont と Maris Turner、そしてJackson Tupper。モダニズム、日本建築、ポストインターネットファッションからの影響をセラミック作品へと昇華するAlex Kovacs。
カナダ、モントリオールを拠点に活動するペインターZephyr Christakos-Gee。さらに東京からは、ペインティング、ブリコラージュ、半立体作品、様々なメディアを用いて作品を制作するHiraparrと、LAID BUG ディレクターで、SCPと深い親交を持つ、グラフィックデザイナーのToshifumi Kiuchi が名を連ねます。
スーベニアキオスクでは、SCPのアーティストによるスペシャルなグラフィックTシャツやフリース、雑貨を販売するほか、SCPと親交の深いKlasse Wrecksのzineも登場します。
ポップアップブースの制作、アートインストールは、LAID BUG の内装デザインや撮影用セット美術など、幅広く手がけるSTUDIO PURESU が担当。
LAID BUGのミニマルな空間に、表情豊かなアートワークが並び、SCPの温かなコミュニティシーンを垣間見ることができる貴重なイベントとなります。この機会にぜひご高覧ください。
From August 1, 2025, LAID BUG will present a pop-up exhibition by the Shelter Cultivation Project (SCP), an artist community formed in Vermont, USA.
The exhibition will feature the work of seven artists who were brought together by the leader of the project, Shawn Dumont, as well as a pop-up store in the form of a souvenir kiosk operated by the SCP.
Maris Turner is currently based out of LA and will show a series of smaller intimate paintings. Jackson Tupper of Vermont will exhibit new paintings from his Souvenirs series. Alex Kovacs is known for sublimating influence from modernism, Japanese architecture, and post-internet fashion into ceramic works. Zephyr Christakos-Gee, is a painter based in Montreal, Canada and will share a series of 9 mixed media works which explore time and liminality. The founder of SCP, Shawn Dumont will be showing a series of previously unseen serigraph collage works,
From Tokyo, Hiraparr, who works in a variety of media, including painting, bricolage, and semi-materials. And Toshifumi Kiuchi who is a graphic designer and a director of LAID BUG, a close friend of SCP, will also participate in the exhibition.
For this exhibition, STUDIO PURESU, which has worked extensively on LAID BUG's interior design and set art for photo shoots, will be in charge of pop-up booth production and art installation.
The exhibition will be a rare glimpse into Vermont's warm community scene, with expressive artwork lined up in LAID BUG's minimalist space. We hope you will take this opportunity to visit the exhibition.
