I’ve followed and admired B. Thom's work for years. I’ve always been drawn to the way he pulls from different corners of visual culture, bringing together unexpected references, imagery, and ideas to create something that feels entirely his own. His work has taken him from New York to Tokyo, with exhibitions at galleries including The Journal Gallery in New York and Commune Gallery in Tokyo. I was excited to have him be part of The Cut & Sew Show and see what he would bring to the chore coat.
The Cut & Sew Show brings together some of the most exciting independent artists and designers working today, each given the same unfinished chore coat to reimagine through their own creative practice.
Presented by Shelter Cultivation Project in partnership with April Cornell, the exhibition explores the intersection of art, fashion, design, textiles, and making. Each artist brings their own materials, techniques, and creative language to the garment, resulting in a collection of one-of-a-kind works.
