LILKOOL was at the top of our list when we started thinking about artists for The Cut & Sew Show, and it’s pretty obvious why when you see what he laid down!
“Really excited to finally share this special project I made for CUT & SEW, curated by Shelter Cultivation Project and April Cornell. I hand-dyed the chore coat and then freehanded all the characters directly onto it with Sharpies. No sketches, no plan, just letting the characters come alive as I went. This one was so much fun to make and definitely one of those projects where I got to fully embrace the weirdness.”

The Cut & Sew Show brings together some of the most exciting independent artists and designers working today, each given the same unfinished chore coat to reimagine through their own creative practice.
Presented by Shelter Cultivation Project in partnership with April Cornell, the exhibition explores the intersection of art, fashion, design, textiles, and making. Each artist brings their own materials, techniques, and creative language to the garment, resulting in a collection of one-of-a-kind works.
